Walking on glass – The bridge over Strøget and looking through the department store
You may know the feeling of looking up at the floating bridge from the street. At the tip of Salling Rooftop, you can step out onto a glass frame 27 meters above Strøget with an unobstructed view straight down to the pulse of the city. But did you know that you can also find a large glass floor in the middle of the terrace? Here you can look all the way down through the floors of the department store, which gives most people a sinking feeling in their stomachs.
A multi-level vertical garden
In 2022, the experience was expanded with the impressive Salling Roofgarden. Here you enter a garden filled with large trees, shrubs and over 1.000 perennials, woven into modern wooden architecture. You can explore the many levels via paths and stairs, take a ride on the circular sky swings or find peace on the sculptural benches designed by Jeppe Hein.
Café, wine bar and Starbucks
You don't have to settle for the view. Salling Rooftop houses a cozy café, a stylish wine bar and a Starbucks, so you can get everything from a quick coffee to a cold glass of rosé. The large wooden terraces invite you to just sit down and enjoy the atmosphere and the view towards Aarhus Cathedral and the harbor.

Salling Rooftop is also a vibrant cultural scene. Throughout the year you can experience everything from intimate concerts and comedy to open-air talks. When darkness falls and the lights in Aarhus are turned on, the events take on a very special atmosphere.
As Christmas approaches, the whole place transforms into a winter wonderland. With sparkling Christmas lights, fir trees and the large iconic Christmas tree on the facade, it is one of the most atmospheric places to experience Christmas in Aarhus. You can stand on the bridge and look down at the illuminated Christmas huts on Strøget, while enjoying a cup of hot cocoa up high.

It is completely free to visit both Salling Rooftop and Salling Roofgarden. Simply take the escalators or elevator inside the department store all the way up to the top floor.

Yes, you will find both a café and a wine bar at the top. Here you can buy everything from light meals and snacks to coffee, cocktails and wine. It is the perfect place for a lunch with a view of Aarhus.
Where can I park nearby?
You can park directly in Salling's own parking garage, which is located in connection with the department store in Aarhus C. Please note that parking here requires payment of a fee.
Is there access for people with walking difficulties and strollers?
Yes, there is full accessibility. You can use the elevators inside Salling to get all the way up to the roof, and the walkways on the Rooftop are designed so you can get around easily.
What are the opening hours?
Salling Rooftop basically follows the department store's opening hours. You can visit the roof Monday to Friday from 10:00 to 19:00 and Saturday and Sunday from 10:00 to 18:00.
