There will be glitter, laughter and good stories when SERIES AWARDS 2025 rolls out the red carpet in Aarhus on Thursday, November 6, 2025.
The Danish series industry is coming together to celebrate the year's best stories and the audience can join in.

The evening will feature award ceremonies, a party and a banging afterparty at Den Sidste.

This year, Peter Mygind is the host, and he promises that the audience will have a great time.
When we caught up with him for a phone interview, the energy was palpable:

"I'm really looking forward to it. It's going to be an evening of energy, love and yes, I'm actually going to sing. No one has done that before, so it's going to be something special," he says with a laugh.

A life built on series

For Peter Mygind, the hosting role feels like returning home. He has been a part of some of the most beloved Danish series of all time, from Nikolaj and Julie to Anna Pihl and Sommerdahl.

“A large part of my career has been built on being in TV series. It was one of the first things I got into after I graduated from theater school in 1992.
And now I've been in 20 series. It's crazy that you try to make an effort in your life and it's a bit of a coincidence that it was TV series that I ended up in.”

He loves the unpredictability of the format:

“When you do theater, you know where it ends. Many of the TV series I've been in, you didn't know what the ending was until the TV station said we were doing the last season. And it's pretty wild and fun to be a part of.”

Series that collect

Mygind clearly notices how strongly the audience has connected with the characters over the years, especially in Sommerdahl, where he himself plays the lead role.

“I've met so many people who say, you don't even realize how much I've cried and laughed with you over the years.
Because many people see the series they follow as a friend, a family member that they take to heart.”

He smiles and continues, “I’ve met parents who say that’s the only thing my 12-year-old son wants to watch with me. And I’m deeply grateful for that.
But that's also what series can do, they can both gather and set thoughts in motion.”

The audience follows intently as the Series Awards 2025 are presented from the stage in the VUE Cinema with a large hall and screen in the background.

The Danish series landscape is strong

According to Mygind, the Danish series are doing impressively well, also internationally.

“The Castle, which I was in, also won awards. I don't think there's a producer in the world who hasn't seen The Castle, because it was so well put together.
And our writers have improved over the years. We have a strong film school that develops the right writers and trains them.
And we are getting better and better at telling stories.”

Aarhus as a natural scene

SERIES AWARDS has always been held in Aarhus, where the awards ceremony has grown to become the Nordic region's largest celebration of serial storytelling.
This year, the show will take place at Vue in Bruuns Galleri, the same venue as THIS Festival, which took place the previous days.

“Aarhus is becoming a stronger and stronger city. There are so many talented actors at Aarhus Theatre and at all the small theatres in Aarhus and in Aalborg and Vejle and Kolding.
So it's obvious that more is being done here.
Aarhus Series also helps to kick-start it and brings together forces and skilled people and talents who exchange thoughts and experiences.”

An advice for the young

Peter is also looking forward to meeting the new talents in the industry that evening. And when asked what advice he has for the new talents, Peter replied:

"Work hard and do a lot of theater. Seek out casting directors and say yes to castings."
Someone has to notice you and that can be difficult in that huge media landscape with social media everywhere.
But you can start with your own little things and work your way up.”

The audience is king

The Audience Award, Aarhus Series Award, is something very special for Mygind:

“The Audience Award is the finest award of them all.
It's the voice of the people, those who actually watch the series and empathize.
You can get twelve stars in a newspaper for something you do, but if only eight people see it, it doesn't matter at all.
You should never create something because you want good reviews, you should create something because you want to tell a good story.”

Peter Mygind laughs and continues, “Well, of course I can only encourage people to vote for Sommerdahl. But no matter what, the audience award is the best award I have ever won.”

Voting is still open, and you can vote for your favorite series right up until the awards ceremony.

“I hope people go home wanting to discover new series and be inspired,” says Mygind.
“It will be an evening of laughter, fellowship and maybe a song or two.”
