Experience the south at the East Jutland beaches

With the Marselisborg woods all the way down to the beach, the large boulders and crooked bushes, you may be in doubt as to whether you are actually on a beach in the south.

On both sides of Moesgaard beach south of Århus city centre, there are several kilometers of beach with the water on one side and the forest a few meters on the other. Here you have to walk over the large boulders that lie right out into the water and under the trees with branches that stick out over the beach.

In fact, with a little imagination, you can get the feeling of being on the famous Robinson Crusoe island when you walk kilometer after kilometer on the beautiful beach. Or maybe it's not exactly on that island that you meet other people. But then let your imagination go to one of the many bounty beaches found on forgotten islands in distant lands.

Forest, beach and experiences

The beach walk varies a lot between fine sandy beach and stones and in some places you have to go a little way into the forest to get further. In many places, large boulders can be seen, lying both out in the water and as a small rock along the forest. In some places there are paths up to the forest, which is somewhat higher than the beach. And here it will be an advantage to use the paths unless you are a climbing mouse, because it is somewhat steep uphill to enter the forest. On the other hand, there is the most fantastic view out over the Aarhus bay when you walk in the forest along the beach.

If you have a trotter hidden in you, you can take the trip a few kilometers along the beach and back again in the forest. It gives you the most wonderful nature experience and with the Marselisborg forests, where there is a lot of terrain, you will also get in good shape.

With Moesgaard beach as a starting point, the trip can possibly go towards Århus city and the 4 kilometers to Bellahage beach, where the Infinite Bridge is located. Or the opposite way and the same number of kilometers to Fløjstrup beach. If you are in a car, you can park it in the car park at Bellahage beach and walk towards Moesgaard beach, and should fatigue overtake you when you reach the beach, bus 31 runs every half hour back to the car park.

During the trip from Ballehage and to Moesgaard, the experiences are full of excitement. Here you will meet campers who enjoy life at Blommehaven camping and nudists who bathe in the clear water. You will pass areas with dinghies, which lie in rows along the edge of the forest and Aarhusians who cultivate the Danish hygge. Past people barbecuing on the beach and children hunting crabs at the water's edge.

That Aarhus is a city by the water is clearly seen with the activity that takes place in the bay all year round. And on your trip by the beach, it is not uncommon to be joined by both smaller sailboats and canoes out in the water. The closer you get to the city, the popular paddleboards will also start to appear.

Yes, even the Molsfærgen, which sails between Jutland and Zealand from Århus city center, affects your trip by the beach. When the big ferries arrive in Aarhus, you can feel it on the waves all the way out at Moesgaard beach. Here the calm water stretches out and then comes back again with small, powerful waves that go a long way up the beach.

The roots of the large trees are clearly visible after the water has washed away the forest floor. Here the roots hook down the slope towards the beach. In some places, you just have to take a trip into the forest to get to the beach. Paths have been made here that are easy to follow and that certainly does not make the trip any less charming, on the contrary. No matter what time of year it is and whether the sun is shining from a blue sky or it is autumn stormy weather, the walk along the beach with the Moesgaard forests is an experience that you should treat yourself to.
