Mollerup Forest
Risskov and Skejby
Mollerup forest lies between Skejby og Rice forest and here, 5 minutes' walk from blocks of flats and busy roads, you are suddenly far out in the countryside. Or that's how it feels when you walk around the forest and the large open areas with fields and meadows.
In Mollerup forest, there is also a large fenced dog forest where you can let your dog loose. If you yourself feel like a run, there are also two running routes here.
Mollerup forest is a relatively new forest from the 1990s and this can also be seen in the trees in the forest. Here, virtually all the trees are tall with thin trunks.
You can choose to walk around the forest via the paths, but in some places the trees are so far apart that you can take a detour between the trees. A good change for the trip.
Fruit trees and berry bushes
Like so many places in Aarhus, there are also fruit trees and bushes here. And in the middle of the meadow stands an apple tree. You may pick the apples for your own consumption.
At the meadow, the wild bushes are allowed to grow freely. Like here, where you will find both berry bushes and hypen roses. You can use the hype in cooking, but the birds love them too.
Running routes in Mollerup forest
In Mollerup forest you can also go for a run on the two routes. The yellow route is 2,1 km and the red route 3 km.
Between the many trees are also open grassy areas. And you get the feeling that you are suddenly far out in the countryside.

The treehouse and forest caves
When you walk in the forest, you may well be greeted by surprises. Like this little forest house that keeps an "eye" on what's happening in the forest.
In most Aarhusian forests you come across caves built in wood. Many of them are made by children from kindergartens when they go for a walk in the forest. Many grandparents also enjoy building the dens with their grandchildren when they are in the woods.
Shelter in the forest
If you are staying outdoors, you have the option of this here at the shelter site. And with the boat park, there is guaranteed forest coziness when darkness falls.
In the small area by the shelter square, there are plenty of play opportunities for children. Like this small natural cave with the dense trees that form both walls and ceiling.
There is also a nature playground here, which makes balance a challenge. Can you jump from stump to stump without touching the ground?
