Moesgaard Beach
Salonvejen 1, 8240 Risskov
Moesgaard Beach is one of Aarhus' most popular beaches.
There is a good reason why many Aarhusians return to Moesgaard Strand summer after summer. Here the beach is wide, the water is shallow, and the Marselisborg forests are right behind you. It is a place where you can swim, take a walk along the coast or just sit on the sand and look out over Aarhus Bay.
On warm days, the beach is bustling with life, but it rarely feels crowded. There is room for families with children, those with a book under their arm, and those who just want a quick dip before continuing their journey.

A beach with space for both play and relaxation
The shallow water makes Moesgaard Strand an ideal place for families with children. After the narrow stone edge, the fine sandy bottom continues far out, and it takes a while before the water gets deep.
If you prefer peace and quiet to beach life, just walk a little further away from the parking lot. The beach's wide coastline means that the distance between the blankets quickly becomes longer, and you can find your own spot with a view of the bay.
Just behind the beach lies the Marselisborg Forest. Many people combine a trip to the beach with a walk through the forest or further towards Moesgaard Museum.
Aarhus' longest bathing jetty
In the middle of the beach you will find the city's longest jetty, which extends 50 meters into the water.
The bridge has both a ramp and railings, so it is easy to use, even if you have difficulty walking or are traveling with a stroller. Along the way, there are benches where you can sit and enjoy the view before heading back to the beach.
A whole day by the water
By the parking lot is the beach kiosk, which is a regular stop for many. Here, people pick up ice cream, cold drinks and coffee during the day, while the children are already on their way back to the water.
During the summer holidays, lifeguards keep an eye on the beach, and the good facilities make it easy to stay there from morning until late afternoon. That's exactly what many people use Moesgaard Strand for. Not just a quick dip, but a whole day by the water.
