Marienlyst Park: Forest, golf and large green areas in Aarhus

Marienlyst Park is one of Aarhus' largest parks with forest, open grasslands, an amphitheater, a golf course and running trails. There is room for play, exercise and a quiet walk in nature.

One of Aarhus' largest parks

Marienlyst Park is located in Hasle and stretches all the way up to Brendstrup Forest. The combination of forest, large lawns and activities makes the park a popular excursion destination for families with children, exercisers and dog walkers all year round.

Where the forest meets the open grasslands

Marienlyst Park was created in the 1970s and has grown together with Brendstrup Skov. The many paths lead through both dense wooded areas and large open grasslands, giving the park a very varied appearance.

It is precisely the change between forest and park that makes the area different from many of the other parks in Aarhus.

The amphitheater in the middle of the park

One of the park's most distinctive features is the amphitheater, located on the edge of the forest. Here you will find a round stage, stepped seating, and a campfire site that can be used for cozy gatherings.

Many people use the area for sandwiches, small events or a break on their walk through the park.

Golf, running and exercise

Marienlyst Park is also known for its many activity options. There is a six-hole par 3 golf course here, and the marked running routes of 3,1 and 5 kilometers are widely used all year round.

In winter, the steep hills are also transformed into popular toboggan runs when the snow falls.

Playground and barbecue area

In the northern part of the park is the playground, barbecue area and large grassy areas, where there is plenty of space for picnics, ball games and birthday parties.

The area is surrounded by hedges and trees, which create small spaces in the park, while the large football field next to it is often filled with activity.
