The hay forest
8260 Viby J
Høskoven is a beautiful variation of forest area with dense trees, lakes and wild vegetation. The forest lies between Viby and Stavtrup and not far from Lake Brabrand.
The forest lies up to the Århus south motorway at Viby and you can get to the other side of the forest by walking under the road. In Høskoven there are many berry bushes, ready to pick and enjoy when you get home.
The beech forest
The hay forest is mainly beech trees. Due to both the motorway and district heating lines, part of the forest was cut down in the past.
There are paths throughout the forest that you can follow. The forest is very popular when the dog needs to be let out, and you will therefore see many people walking their dogs in the forest. It is not a dog forest, so remember to keep the dog on a leash.
Forest caves
And here in the forest you will find, just like in the other forests in Aarhus, the small forest caves.
In most cases, the caves are built by children from forest nurseries. And the tree is found all around the forest floor. You are always welcome to build on one of the caves when you come by.
Engen and Døde Å
On the other side of the forest from Viby, a large meadow. This small lake and meadow is located by Stavtrup and not far from Lake Braband.
At the meadow you come across Døde Å, which flows into Lake Brabrand and on through Klosterkær. The name comes from the fact that the water flow in the stream is almost completely still.
