Nordic Notes: Poetry, music and Nordic sound

As part of the Festival of the Century, turquoise forms the setting for an atmospheric premiere. Nordic Notes is an interdisciplinary meeting where poet Liv Ea and accordionist Asta Soffia Thorgeirsdottir unite poetry and newly composed music in a shared, Nordic universe.

The evening offers an intense and present experience, where words and tones merge. The works were written especially for the occasion by composer Karoline Skriver and are created for accordion, electronics and voice. Here the music functions not only as a background, but as an equal partner to Liv Ea's nature-oriented poems.

The audience can look forward to hearing Icelandic musician Asta Soffia Thorgeirsdottir unfold the vast soundscape of the accordion, while Liv Ea's lyrics weave in and out of the melodies. The lyrics revolve around nature and humanity's connection to other species, which is supported by the insistent intensity of the music.

This event marks the start of the concert series Nordic Notes, which will travel to the Faroe Islands, Iceland and Norway to explore the Nordic tone during 2026. After the concert, the audience is invited to an artist talk, where the artists and the audience together delve into the Nordic language and understanding of music.
