Lucia in Kayak is one of the most atmospheric kayak trips of the season, where the many kayakers bring light to the harbor in Aarhus by decorating their kayaks with twinkling lights, fir trees and paddles from the Yacht Harbor to Dokk1.
The event starts at 18.00 from the Aarhus Canoe and Kayak Club, where the procession begins its journey out into the marina. First, they follow the Juldamperen, round the Sailing Center and Træskibshavnen, and return through the canal to Dokk1.
Along the way, there are two special stops:
at 18.45 at Havnepladsen, where Aya Vedige sings the Lucia song
at 19.15 at Det Lille Hus på Havnen, where "De unge stemmer fra Aarhus Efterskole" contributes with song. At this stop, there is also a prize presentation for the best-looking kayaks.
Lucia in Kayak also offers fun at Det Lille Hus på Havnen, where you can buy mulled wine, apple slices and hot cocoa from Det rollende hjerterum, where the profits go to the homeless in Aarhus. The best view of the entire route can be enjoyed here.
Participants
Participants in the kayak rally must register via a specific registration page and must have the necessary experience and equipment to ensure their own safety on the water, especially during the winter months. It is an event that combines Christmas cheer with a unique water experience, and is a fantastic way to experience Aarhus' waterways in a festive and atmospheric atmosphere.
Prizes are awarded to the most impressive and creatively decorated kayaks, and historically there has been great ingenuity.
