I'm not coming home today: Lecture with Matilde Kimer
You can now experience one of Denmark's most prominent and respected foreign correspondents when Matilde Kimer visits Aarhus. On Thursday, April 30, 2026, she invites you to come close to the front lines in Ukraine and Russia in a lecture that combines historical perspectives with deeply personal stories. As DR's face in the region for more than 15 years, she possesses an insight that leaves most audiences deeply thoughtful.
How does everyday life work when the air raid alarms are going off?
Matilde Kimer takes you to both weddings and funerals and gives you an insight into how Ukrainian schoolchildren have to seek shelter in bomb shelters from World War II. She talks about the fates she encounters and how these human clashes become the award-winning reports you see on radio and TV. You get stories about how both soldiers, civilians and children experience the war, and what old scars the brutal invasion has torn up.
Matilde Kimer has covered the conflict intensively since 2009 and has received great recognition for her work, including the Publicist Prize in June 2025. She is also currently working on the book “Ikke uden kamp” from October 2025, which forms a strong framework for her knowledge. During the evening, she will show clips from her coverage and share anecdotes about life as a Danish journalist in one of the world's hotspots.
