Mozart's iconic opera in a new production by the Danish National Opera
Come along to the seductress' last night and experience one of music history's most captivating and complex characters – Don Juan. In the Danish National Opera's new production, you will experience Mozart's masterful music, drama, humor and tale of fate served with strong scenic intensity and musical grandeur.
Don Juan – a living man or the protagonist of the tragedy?
Mozart's 1787 opera is loved and performed all over the world – and for good reason. The music is wonderful, the characters profound and the story eternally relevant: Is Don Juan just a carefree charmer, or is he a symbol of human decay and moral blindness?
The performance unfolds over the last 24 hours of Don Juan's life, where he seduces, deceives and finally faces death. Together with his servant Leporello, he encounters old flames, angry fathers and deadly consequences – all accompanied by the Aarhus Symphony Orchestra's live interpretation of Mozart's score.
Opera with nerve and depth
The performance is sung in Danish and is full of both humor and seriousness, seduction and curse. A work that touches something fundamental in all of us – and which, with this staging, becomes alive, present and shockingly beautiful.
