Bignami Veltri Jazz Ensemble – Aarhus Jazz Festival

Are you ready to experience one of the most exciting and innovative major jazz ensembles in Denmark? You are invited to an afternoon in Maritsa Salen, when Jazzselskabet Aarhus presents the Bignami Veltri Jazz Ensemble as part of the Aarhus Jazz Festival 2026. Under the direction of the two Italian composers and conductors, Anna Bignami and Laura Veltri, this Copenhagen-based nonet delivers a concert that breaks the framework of traditional big band writing.

The ensemble combines modern jazz and free improvisation with inspiration from classical masters such as Arvo Pärt and Olivier Messiaen as well as elements from the world of rock. You will experience unique sonic textures and extended techniques that create a very special sound world, where the intimate meets the magnificent. With a strong line-up of some of the best musicians from the Danish scene, a concert experience is set up that is both intellectually challenging and deeply sensual.
