Ceres Parken: From brewery garden to green park in Aarhus
Ceres Parken is located in the middle of Ceres City, where the former brewery garden has become a green gathering point along the Aarhus River.
A historic park in the middle of Ceres City
For more than 150 years, Ceres Park was closed to the public as part of the Ceres Brewery. Today, the area is open to everyone and functions as a park where students, residents and visitors meet for a break by the Aarhus River or continue on along Brabrandstien.

From brewery garden to public park
Ceres Park was built in 1865 as part of the then Ceres Brewery. For many years, the garden was reserved for the brewery's employees and guests, and only a few got a glimpse of it behind the fence.
When Ceres By was developed, the park was preserved and opened to the public. Today, it is part of the new district and a green respite amidst housing, cafes and VIA University College.
Old trees along the Aarhus River
Although the area around the park has changed, many of the old trees still remain. They form a green frame around the paths and create a clear contrast to the modern architecture of Ceres City.
Aarhus River runs along the edge of the park, where wooden terraces and benches provide an opportunity to sit down with a view of the water.
The Brabrand Trail begins here
From Ceres Parken there is direct access to the Brabrandstien, which follows the Aarhus River all the way to Brabrand Sø. Many people therefore use the park as the starting or ending point for a walk, run or bike ride.
The small hills and bridges also provide nice views of the river and the surrounding district.
Small details tell the story
Around the park you will find traces of both the old brewery garden and the new district. At the entrance is a small thatched house, while the yellow art installation over the Aarhus River has become one of the area's most recognizable landmarks.
Just outside the park are several hammocks, which are mainly used by students and locals on hot days.
A park that is used every day
Ceres Park is not a park with big attractions. It is a place where people meet in everyday life. Here they read books, eat lunch, walk dogs and take short breaks between studying and work.
It is precisely this role as a local city park that makes Ceres Park different from many of the larger parks in Aarhus.

Parking at the park
There is an underground parking garage under Ceres By with direct access to Ceres Park. There is also paid parking in several places in the area.
Public transport
Buses 3A, 14 and 44 stop at Viborgvej, while buses 4A, 11, 15, 43 and 113 stop at Silkeborgvej. From here it is a few minutes' walk to the park.
Public toilets
Please note that there are no public toilets in the park itself.
Good to know
Ceres Parken is located directly by the Aarhus River and is connected to the Brabrandstien trail. Many people therefore use the park as a starting point for a walk, run or bike ride towards Brabrand Sø.
