Burhan G and Medina reunited: Have you saved the number too?
You know the feeling of scrolling through your phone book and suddenly hitting a name you should have deleted long ago. That little twinge of doubt. Should you press, or should you not?
That's exactly the nerve Burhan G and Medina are hitting, now that they're finally reunited. It's been 16 years since they taught us all about heartbreak with 'Mest Ondt', and here we are again.
When love goes digital
It feels like yesterday, but the world has moved on. Back then, unrequited love was about burned CDs and long stares. Today, our memories live digitally. As Medina herself says, the phone has become the symbol of everything we haven't finished, from messages that never get sent to those "unfollows" on social media that hurt a little too much.
In their new single, “Gemt Dit Nummer”, you can feel the desperation up close when Burhan G sings about having saved the number under “Tag den ikke” to protect himself, while still ending up sneaking in to watch from a friend’s phone. It’s the ugly and honest face of modern love: We know it’s over, but we still send a text message saying “please don’t call me” because the sound of that voice makes it impossible to completely let go.
From melancholy to euphoria
The song starts out as a warm nod to the soft R&B ballads of the 00s, but then the beat kicks in. It lifts into 2026 with a sound of euphoric club melancholy that makes you want to dance alone in your living room or in the middle of a packed concert hall while staring at the glowing screen.
It's no surprise, then, that Medina has just been honored with the Music Publishers' Honorary Award 2026. She hasn't just maintained her relevance; she owns the live scene right now. And the best part is, you don't have to settle for hearing her through your AirPods.
Experience the magic live in Aarhus
You can experience Medina live under the dense treetops in Aarhus when she performs Fed Fredag in Friheden. There is something very special about those evenings when the bass mixes with the sound of the roller coasters and the smell of popcorn and summer nights.
And if you just can't get enough of the rediscovered magic, Burhan G is ready to throw a party at Smukfest in August. This is where the music really lives, and where you can experience both the new sound and the old memories up close.
Maybe now is the time to finally delete that song. Or maybe you should just leave it alone and let the music explain why.
