Bellevue Beach – Risskov's most popular bathing spot

Bellevue Beach in Rice forest is one of Aarhus' most beloved beaches. The wide coastline, clear water and child-friendly sandy bottom make the beach an obvious choice for both locals and visitors. Here you will find shallow water with almost no rocks or seaweed, cozy beach parks and lots of life on hot summer days.

One of Aarhus' best beaches

With its 1,5 km long coastline, Bellevue is a place where you can settle down for a whole day. The beach is popular with families with children, students and young people looking for sun and company close to the city. It is safe for the little ones because the water only gets deep slowly, while the older ones can jump from the bathing jetties or find shade in the beach park behind the sand.

Child-friendly beach in Risskov

If you are looking for a beach in Aarhus where children can play freely, Bellevue is an obvious choice. Here it takes a long time before you can no longer reach the bottom, which gives peace of mind to both children and parents. When the little ones have had enough of the waves, there is also a playground in the middle of the beach park, where you can climb and slide, while the adults enjoy a break in the grass.

Bathing piers and accessibility for all

Along the beach you will find several bathing jetties, which are gathering points for both sunbathers and divers. One of the jetties has access via a wooden path, so that wheelchair users and those with walking difficulties can also get right out into the water. Accessibility is therefore top notch, making Bellevue a beach that embraces everyone regardless of age and mobility.

The beach park – barbecue, grass and summer atmosphere

Behind the beach is a large park with lawns and low-growing rosehip bushes that form small oases. It is bustling with life on summer days: some people light the barbecue, others play ball or gather around a blanket with snacks and cold drinks. The atmosphere is reminiscent of a southern seaside promenade, and the park is an ideal place to linger when the sand gets too hot.

If you don't have your own food basket, you can find a kiosk close to the beach. Here you can buy ice cream, grilled food and cold drinks, so you can refuel before jumping into the blue waves again.

Bellevue Beach compared to other beaches in Aarhus

Aarhus has several good bathing spots, but Bellevue stands out for its combination of child-friendliness and beach park. While Den Permanente attracts recreational swimmers and winter bathers, and Ballehage is known for its clear, deep water, Bellevue is especially a family and youth hangout. There is room for both play, picnics and relaxation, and an atmosphere that keeps drawing people back year after year.
