The lake was created in 2003 by Århus Municipality, Årslev Engsø has developed into a lush natural area. The 100-hectare lake is surrounded by 8,5 kilometers of gravel paths that invite you to an enchanting hike or bike ride.
Bird enthusiasts will rejoice at the diversity of bird species that live by the lake. Rare and endangered species can be observed, as well as ospreys and sea eagles occasionally visiting the area.

Årslev Engsø is part of an international nature protection area that emphasizes the area's importance for both flora and fauna.
On your trip around the lake, you will experience a varied landscape with open fields on one side and lush forest areas on the other. The path keeps its distance from the lakeshore to ensure tranquility for the rich wildlife.
Lyngbygårds Å
Start your trip at the car park and set off on a hike around the meadow lake. The gravel road leads you along the shore of the lake and creates a perfect setting for an authentic nature experience.
Three bridges cross Lyngbygårds Å and Århus Å, which run through the lake. On the opposite side of the lake you can enjoy the beautiful forest that adorns the landscape.
Just after the first bridge you will find a small open space. This is the only place where you can come right down to the shore of the lake and feel the peaceful atmosphere deep into your soul.
Observation towers with views of Årslev Engsø and a rich birdlife
Experience an unforgettable panoramic view of Årslev Engsø and the surrounding landscape from one of the two lookout towers. Located on opposite sides of the lake, the towers offer a unique opportunity to observe the rich birdlife and beautiful nature.
From the top of the towers you can see the entire lake, the surrounding fields and forests and even the center of Aarhus in the distance. It is a fascinating contrast to experience the peaceful nature so close to a busy city.
If you are interested in birds, the observation towers are a perfect place to observe the many different species that live by the lake. Remember to bring your binoculars to get a better experience.

Cows and nature in harmony
Experience a charming mix of rural idyll and active leisure on the tour around Lake Engsøen. Here, cows graze peacefully on the green meadows and contribute to keeping the landscape beautiful and natural.
On your trip you will meet others who enjoy the fresh air and the beautiful nature. Cyclists whiz past, dog walkers enjoy a pleasant walk, and exercisers go for a run to keep in shape.
Several benches are located around the lake, inviting you to take a break and enjoy the peaceful atmosphere. You can observe the calm movements of the cows, listen to the songs of the birds and let yourself be enchanted by the beautiful view of the lake.
Constantinople
On your trip around Lake Engsøen, you can't help but notice the beautiful Constantinsborg manor. The manor is owned by the Danish billionaire Anders Holch Povlsen and has a long and fascinating history.
The original farm on the site was built in the 1400th century, but it unfortunately burned down in 1753. The current manor house was built in 1802 in a classicist style and has been an iconic landmark in the area ever since.
Engsøen in winter
When winter's frost covers the landscape, Engsøen transforms into an almost magical winter paradise. The sparkling snow and the icy air create a very special atmosphere that is perfect for a walk in nature.
